As a Superintendent you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit. Priority for our superintendents is leading your crews to build work safely, with quality and meeting schedule. Your key responsibilities include, ensuring the safety of crew members, ensuring the productivity of crew members, following OH&S and Company policies, procedures and guidelines. You will function as a field supervisor and will have responsibility for multiple Foreman and craft workers. You will be responsible for safe and efficient work execution including planning, scheduling, cost and workmanship. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

Kiewit Energy Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. We are a major industrial contractor that constructs oil & gas facilities such as oilsands processing, including steam–assisted gravity drainage facilities, upgrading & refining, midstream facilities, power & co-generation, terminal projects (ex. LNG, LPG, etc.), and major mine developments. We also have a Modular Yard facility in Edmonton, Alberta with an integrated pipe fabrication shop. Our engineering branch is a leading-edge division that offers innovative engineering services for our current projects and new pursuits in Canada. Our design services group are based in Calgary and Houston offering expertise in process, piping, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural disciplines.

- Promote, lead and execute a nobody gets hurt safety culture for all employees, in compliance with Kiewit’s Health Safety and Environmental Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, and mentorship with crew
- Provide mentorship to team members by leading safety meetings and engaging the craft with the work execution methods
- Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work with the crews
- Understand the scope and sequencing of the work and prioritize the work, coordinate scopes and prioritize access for multiple trades
- Ensure work completed meets project specific IFC drawings, quality standards and specifications and codes
- Ensure the timely preparation and submittal of required documentation (ITP’s, as-built drawings, etc)
- Understand overall project schedule and ensure work is planned to meet the project schedule
- Understand budgets, monitor cost performance and forecast cost projections for your scope
- Setting daily production goals for the crew
- Working with the Foreman and crews to overcome challenges
- Work with the Department Manager to identify equipment and labour resource requirements
- Ensure that all performance evaluations and completed in a timely fashion for direct reports
- 8+ years' construction experience with 3+ years being in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity (Industrial experience in Oil, Gas and Chemical Preferred)
- Safety minded individual, committed to building work without hurting anyone
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures, and software programs
- Knowledge of OH&S regulations and legislation
- Ability to work to the project schedule which may include weekends and nightshift
- Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
